DRAGON BOATING IN GREAT BRITAIN
Dragon Boat Racing first featured competitively in the UK in September 1980 at the Hong Kong in London Chinese Festival. Since then it has grown immensely in popularity and today there are over twenty crews competing in the British Dragon Boat Racing Association (BDA) League, as well as hundreds who compete in the many charity regattas held across Great Britain every year.
The BDA was formed in July 1987, and was formally constituted as the governing body for the sport of Dragon Boat Racing in the UK at an inaugural meeting held at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham.
